It's A New Decade. Let's Make 2020 PWRful!
This new year marks the start of a brand new decade — an opportunity to start a new chapter in your life. No matter what your personal goals are for this decade, I can tell you that looking after your health is going to be important as you work towards achieving them.
If right now you hate exercise, you can change that! I am here to help you empower yourself through fitness. At the end of the day, nobody can change your life. You have to do that for yourself. But that doesn’t mean that you have to do it alone — the PWR Community can provide support when it’s hard.
This is your chance to change your life
If you are ready to change your life, NOW is the time to start! I know it probably feels daunting because you’ve had the chance a billion times before.
Maybe you started out making changes but you slipped back into old habits. One mistake many women make is trying to change too many things at once, or taking an approach that isn’t sustainable.
You can change that this year. YOU can exercise the discipline and consistency to change your life, one small step, one small decision at a time. There is nothing stopping you.
This can be the decade that you choose to transform your life! There is no reason why you can’t take this chance — if you’re ready to and you’re going to I can help you!
The decision is YOURS to make
You have to decide that you want to make a change in your own life. It’s on you — no one can do it for you. It’s about making that choice and making it over and over again, even after you fail.
What are you going to do if you fail? You can keep making small, consistent changes every day to become the person you want to be and to care for yourself in the way that YOU deserve.
That’s how big changes are made — the accumulation of hundreds of small choices in every moment.
When you make small changes every day to care for yourself — in one years time, you will have changed your life.
Find your inspiration in 2020
What will inspire you to change your life? You have to want it bad enough to make it happen. You have to understand WHY you’re making this change. You are worth taking care of!
You give yourself the power to create change when your intention is self-love and self-care.
Even if you don’t believe it right now, start the process of taking care of your health. When you exercise and start to treat yourself with the respect that you deserve, you’ll start to understand that you are worthy and that you are stronger than you ever knew.
If you don’t believe this right now, trust me — just start. Do one small thing each day to honour your body. I promise that over time you will start to feel a change.
Set goals with a positive motivation
When you define your fitness goals for this year, every single one should be POSITIVELY driven. I hear so many goals that are negative — “I won’t, I can’t”. Why are we starting anything in a deficit? It’s not what I can’t eat. It’s what I CAN DO.
Make your baseline goals positive. What are you giving yourself? What reward will you gift yourself in 2020?
Perhaps you’ll commit to an earlier bedtime five nights of the week to get more sleep. This will give you more energy! Frame your goals by what you’ll gain, not what you’re giving up.
Be flexible and fill your own cup
Health goals are not about being rigid. The decision to take care of your health isn’t something that you can set up and follow — it’s a decision that you have to make over and over again as life naturally changes and evolves.
What area of your health are you willing to focus on right now? Maybe you need to take a break, go to therapy, set up a mindfulness practice. Identify which part of your life is in the negative and start there.
Choose to live with grace in the new decade
Whatever you decide to change this decade, make taking care of yourself a priority. You deserve it!
If you mess up, don’t worry about it. Just start again in the present moment. Guilt is far more unhealthy than that “thing” that you did wrong. Treat yourself with love and kindness, just like you would a friend or a child. There is no such thing as falling down — be gentle with yourself and give yourself grace.
Celebrate your successes and focus on every day. Focus on the things that you did well. Encourage yourself to keep going.
Start with your intention and break that down into action. Start with the six-week challenge — and then continue to exercise.
Whatever your goals for this brand new chapter of your life are, start by caring for yourself and giving yourself the tools you’ll need to achieve them. Your health is so important to every aspect of your life!
Let’s start this new decade by committing to looking after our health — mental and physical!
